Secret Bases, Secret Wars, Vol. II:
The Antelope Valley and the Rise of the Gunbelt
2004

The second volume about "secret bases" of the western U.S.

This volume is about the rise of the so-called Military Industrial Complex, and the ways that it shaped the Antelope Valley in Southern California.

Secret Bases, Secret Wars, Vol. I:
Groom Lake, the Tonopah Test Range, and the Hidden Wars of the Basin and Range
2004

This is the first volume in a series of pamphlets about the "secret bases" of the western U.S. Volume I. is about “Area 51” and the Tonopah Test Range, two bases in central Nevada that are home to experimental aircraft and weapons.

Both of these bases are on land that the Western Shoshone tribe claims sovereignty over, pointing to the Treaty of Ruby Valley as the legal document in which their sovereignty was recognized by the U.S. Thus, the “simulated” wars at these restricted military sites might be described a continuation of the 19th Century Indian Wars.
